Account Wizard: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. Where do I find my paperwork?
    • Account Search (under Account Manager). This will show you the status of your paperwork. You can also monitor paperwork using the Dashboard.
  2. Is a Driver’s License Required?
    • Yes on New Accounts. You can either upload a scanned copy or complete the required information.
  3. If I just want to open an account to do a trade in a brokerage account, what do I do?
    On the Account Information page of the Account Wizard, you should check each the following items. You will also need to have the client complete and sign a Client Account Form.
    • Account Type: New Account
    • Account Custodian: Brokerage (Held at National Financial)
    • Submission Type: Leave blank
    • Does this Account Include? Check the box next to "A Pending Trade"
  4. have an existing NFS account and want to purchase an Alternative and have it held in the account. Where do I start?
    On the Account Information page of the Account Wizard, you should check each the following items. You will also need to have the client complete and sign a Client Account Form and all of the related alternative investment paperwork, including forms required by NFS and Product Sponsor. The Account Wizard will present you with the required paperwork bundle.
    • Client Type: Existing Client

    • Account Type: Leave blank
    • Account Custodian: Brokerage (Held at National Financial)
    • Submission Type: Transaction - On the Transaction Info page, choose the appropriate Investment Type and Product Sponsor.
  5. I just have a check going to American Funds.
    • In this case, you don't need to use the Account Wizard. You will want to enter the information on the Check/Certificate Blotter instead. This is much faster than entering a check through the account wizard. .
  6. When does the paperwork go in my binder?
    • Paperwork will be automatically filed into the client's binder after it has been approved by compliance.
  7. What is the bundle for?
    • The bundle is put there for the times when you need to get your documents submitted and you don’t have time to put them in individually. When submitting in this manner or choosing this option, it does slow down the approval process. It doesn’t go right to a review screen in the Home Office. It has to be moved to the individual categories listed below the “Bundle” option. If you have missed any of the required paperwork, this will be sent back to you electronically to complete before it can be reviewed.
